SACRAMENTO — A number of sprinters on the Cal State Stanislaus men's track & field team turned in a number of season-bests on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State's Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex's Hornet Stadium.
Leading the way for the sprinters is Jerome Johnson, who had two season-bests on Saturday with a time of 11.30 seconds in the 100-meter dash and a 22.99 in the 200. Brendan Thaler also improved on his time in the 400-meter, clocking a 49.80. In his first action in the 200 this season, Thaler timed 22.43 to finish 12th.
Other Warrior runners with faster times on Saturday included Ryon Lawson (1:58.01) in the 800-meter run while Juan Garcia bettered his times in both the 400m (50.99) and 800m (2:03.46). Garcia's improvement on the 800-meter time was by 3.5 seconds from his previous best.
In the field events, Ricky Gurrola was 7th in the hammer throw with a 158-07 and he improved on his mark in the discus with a 132-04. Alberto Valentin was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 1/2-inch and Adam Kubo tossed the javelin 161 feet, 7 inches for 14th.
