Warriors SAAC tops Make-A-Wish Fundraiser again

WALNUT CREEK -- For the fourth straight year, the Cal State Stanislaus SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) tops the California Collegiate Athletic Association in fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The CSUS student-athletes raised a total of $3,213.65 to the CCAA's totals for Make-A-Wish, marking it the fourth consecutive academic year that the Warriors have finished first in the conference.

Cal Poly Pomona finished second with $2,556.15 and UC San Diego third with $2,500.

As a conference, the CCAA ranks fourth among NCAA Division II conferences with a total of $16,271.21 with 100 percent of CCAA institutions participating. As a conference the CCAA avearged $5.38 per student-athlete.

In 2006-07, the CSU Stanisalus SAAC raised $4,021, which was the second highest total in the nation surpassed only by Saint Anslem Colleges $4,050.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is sponsored by NCAA Division II as it's official charity. DII programs across the nation contributes to its annual fund drive.

In 2008, the CSUS SAAC was involved with a campus community engagement project, Henry's March, benefiting the Children's Craniofancial Association. Working with event organizers and coordinated by Associate A.D. Kim Duyst, SAAC helped Henry's March raised more than $25,000 for the C.A.A.
   
SAAC committee members were also actively involved with workshop through the conference office as well as the CCAA Sportsmanship Workshop.
