TURLOCK — The Warrior Cheer Team, a student organization consisting of spirited Cal State Stanislaus students, received the University's Most Spirited Organization Award Wednesday at the annual Student Leadership Awards reception.
The 2008-09 Cheer Team, led by co-captains Mallory Peebles and Whitney Diniz, received the recognition as the student club or organization which displayed the most spirit in promoting the University, the campus and its group.
The cheer team was actively involved in many activities on and off campus, including homecoming festivities and Downtown Turlock Christmas Parade. The group also assisted with all athletics fundraising efforts, including the Warrior Crab Feed and the Warrior Golf Tournament. Aside from attending every home basketball event and many other athletics contests, the cheer team also participated in Make-A-Wish Foundation and WBCA Pink Zone events.
Members of the Cheer Team volunteered their time and resources for school spirit and worked closely with Associated Students, Inc., Warrior Fanatics and Warrior Athletics to promote and support student-athletes at Cal State Stanislaus.
