TURLOCK -- For most of the game, the Cal State East Bay Pioneers were determined to pick up their second game of the season. But the Warriors denied CSUEB of that opportunity with a second half surge to win 67-59 on WBCA Pink Zone night at Warrior Arena.

Five Stanislaus players were in double-digits in scoring with Alishea Kelly leading the way with 15 points as the Warriors improved to 6-16 overall and 5-13 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Katie Busi had 12 points and 16 rebounds with Samantha Bertomen and Jeanette Rowe each chipped in 11.

Cal State East Bay led for 30 minutes of the game before falling to 1-21 overall and 1-16 in its first season in the conference. Marlene Macmillan scored 19 and pulled 11 rebounds to lead East Bay.

In the early goings, East Bay did not look like a team which just picked up its first win of the year just a week ago and started 0-18. The Pioneers led by eight just eight minutes into the game before taking a 10-point, 34-24, halftime lead.

CSUEB led by as many as eight points with 14:40 to go in the second half, but that's when the Warriors started to take over.

Back-to-back buckets by Rowe and Kelly within a 36-second stretch pulled the Warriors within four, then a pair of Kelly free throws cut the deficit to two. A 7-4 mini-run, that included a Kelly three-pointer, gave Stanislaus its first lead, 47-46, with 9:31 to play when Christin Gowan drove through traffic in the paint for a layup.

Stanislaus never let-up from there, only allowing East Bay to pull within one three times. Two straight Bertomen baskets totaling five points gave the Warriors a 59-53 with 4:30 to play and the Warriors cruised from there.

With four games left, CSUS is three games out of eighth place in the CCAA standings for a tournament berth.
