WALNUT CREEK -- Cal State Stanislaus'
Brandon Taylor has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 8-15, it was announced on Wednesday.
Taylor, a sophomore from Denver, Colo., claimed individual medalist honors at the Pioneer Shootout held earlier this week at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo. Taylor opened the 54-hole event a pair of 1-under par 71s on Monday before carding a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to finish at 1-over par 217.
Taylor posted a five-shot victory over Cal State Monterey Bay's Oskar Nystrom and Garrett Baxley of Cal State East Bay, who tied for second with scores 6-over par 222. Cal State Stanislaus placed second, eight shots behind tournament-winner Cal State Monterey Bay.
