WALNUT CREEK -- Cal State Stanislaus center Katie Busi was named to the All-CCAA first team while her teammate Alishea Kelly received second team and Newcomer of the Year honors, the California Collegiate Athletic Association announced today.

Busi, a junior from Valley Springs, averaged a double-double in 2009-10 with 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. She was eighth in the conference in scoring and second in rebounding and was only one of two players in the top 10 in both categories. Additionally, Busi is tied for second with 1.7 blocks per game.

This marks the second consecutive year that Busi was named to the All-CCAA first team.

In her first season at Stanislaus, Kelly led the team in scoring (15.7 ppg), free throws (86) and steals (41) despite missing first six games. She was also second in rebounding (6.0 ppg), three pointers (28) and free throw percentage (.789)

Kelly, a senior from Fairfield, ranked fifth in the CCAA in scoring, third in free throw percentage and sixth in steals. She had transferred from Mesa State, making her eligible for the award as a new player to the conference.

The Warriors finished the 2009-10 season on a five-game winning streak and tied for seventh in the CCAA standings with a 9-13 record. They missed out on the CCAA tournament on a four-way tiebreaker.

CCAA regular-season champion UC San Diego, along with Cal Poly Pomona and Humboldt State, had a total of three players named to the 2010 All-CCAA team.

UC San Diego sophomore guard Chelsea Carlisle highlighted the list as she was named the conference?s Most Valuable Player after averaging 17.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 steals a game in CCAA play.  Cal State East Bay center Lauren Lucchesi was tabbed Freshman of the Year. UC San Diego?s Charity Elliott was named Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Carlisle is the second consecutive Triton to earn the CCAA?s top honor and third overall, joining Michelle Osier (2009) and Leora Juster (2006 and 2007).

In her third season as UC San Diego?s head coach, Elliott has guided the Tritons to a 24-3 overall record, including a 19-3 conference mark. UC San Diego will be the No. 1 seed in this week?s CCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
