McIntyre named to All-CCAA team; Arnold on second team

WALNUT CREEK — Cal State Stanislaus third baseman Erica McIntyre has been named to the All-CCAA First team, as it was announced by the conference office today. Pitcher/first baseman Jennifer Arnold made the second team.

McIntyre, who was a second team selection in 2009, was voted on to the first team as an alternative selection by the head coaches as the senior from Fairfield batted .326 with six doubles, four triples, two home runs and 21 runs batted in. She also posted a slugging percentage of .471 and an on-base percentage of .457 with 11 stolen bases.

Arnold was an utility player selection as both a pitcher and first baseman. In 2010, she batted. 273 with a team-best six home runs, 10 doubles, a triple and drove in 16 runs. Arnold led the team with a slugging percentage of .508 and an on-base average of .415. In the circle, the senior from Ceres was 6-14 with a 3.81 ERA. This is the fourth consecutive time that Arnold has made the All-CCAA second team.

Cal State Dominguez Hills sophomore shortstop Emiley McEwen, who was voted the CCAA's Most Valuable Player. Sophomore pitcher Camille Gaito of UC San Diego and Cal State Monterey Bay's Diane Ortiz were named Co-Most Valuable Pitchers of the Year. Ortiz also was selected Newcomer of the Year and Britney Butler of Cal State San Bernardino was tabbed Freshman of the Year.

Fourth-year head coach Andrea Kenney was chosen Coach of the Year after guiding Cal State Monterey Bay to a 32-16 overall record, including a 25-11 conference mark, and the CCAA's regular-season title.

McEwen topped Cal State Dominguez Hills with a .383 batting average, .617 slugging percentage, 56 RBI and 10 home runs, while leading the Toros to their first-ever CCAA Tournament appearance. Her 43 RBI in CCAA play topped the conference while she ranked among the league-leaders in average (.376), slugging percentage (.606), hits (41), home runs (7) and total bases (66).

Gaito and Ortiz were the top two pitchers in the conference, ranking first and second, respectively, in ERA during CCAA play. Gaito led the league with a 1.07 ERA and 15 wins, while Ortiz was second with a 1.28 ERA and 14 wins.

Butler enjoyed a solid rookie season, posting a .367 conference average, 30 runs scored, 23 RBI and topped the CCAA with a .745 slugging percentage. She also established a Cal State San Bernardino single-season record with 14 home runs and concluded the regular season one home run shy of the CCAA mark.
