NEW ORLEANS — Chico State, led by Gary Towne, is the defending West champs and holds the top spot in the region to begin the year as the USTFCCCA released its preseason poll for men's cross country.
The Wildcats placed eighth at last year's national meet while second-ranked Western Washington was fourth.
Cal State Stanislaus begin the year as the No. 9 ranked team in the West Region. The Warriors were led by two-time All-CCAA runner
Joey Nunes and
Dawson Vorderbruegge in 2009. They finished 8th at the NCAA regionals last year.
The Warriors host its fundraising fun run, Running of the Warriors, on campus this Saturday. They open the regular season with their own Stanislaus Invitational on Sept. 11.
