Antoine Sept and
Connor Birtwhistle completed two days of events in the decathlon as they finished eighth and ninth, respectively, at the CCAA Track & Field Championships on the campus of UC San Diego.
Sept and Birtwhistle both tallied season-highs in the decathlon with Sept picking up 5,568 points and Birtwhistle earning 5,477 points. Chico State's Talor Fulfer is the conference champion with 6,802 points.
Sept recorded season highs in the 100-meter dash (11.85 seconds) and high jump (5-5 3/4). Sept also had season bests in discus with a 108 to finish fifth and tied for first in the pole vault with a 14-3 1/4 clearance.
Birthwhistle cleared a personal best 5-11 1/2 in the high jump to finish fifth in the event. He was third in the javelin with a toss of 160-1.
In men's hammer finals,
Will Harding finished sixth with a toss of 154-3 and
Conrad Deavellar was seventh with a 149-10.
Terrance Ellis highlights a list of Warriors moving on to the final heats on Saturday after solid finishes in Friday's preliminary rounds. Ellis clocked 1:54.81 to qualify fifth in the 800-meter run.
Jesse Ooten (11.15),
Micah Judish (11.49) and
Edward Martin (11.74) all made it through in the 100-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash,
Terry Gross (49.71),
Jerome Johnson (49.73) and
Michael Cotton (51.16) will all compete on Saturday.
