In regards to the past semesters that were cancelled, Athletics Department officials and campus leaders have decided to resume Fall 2021 competition as a full season. Past seasons will not be made up, rather just start over as new. Decisions to return to practice and competition have been made in conjunction with those organizations and in accordance with guidance provided by federal, state, and local health authorities along with the CSU Chancellor’s Office.
In short, the majority of collective attention is focused on aiming towards a safe return with several new rules and protocols for the upcoming season. After several announcements, vaccination for all Stan State students, faculty and staff will be mandatory by September 30, 2021 unless approved by the FDA before that date. However, there are rules in place where a person does not have to get the vaccine such as religious reasons. It is important to note that while the NCAA and even other CSU’s may decide on alternate legislation and forms of action, we are guided by Stan State campus policy first. Just because the NCAA may provide different protocols for certain activities to resume it does not mean the state of California, the CSU, the CCAA, and/or our campus is permissive.
The CCAA has established several groups to discuss the logistics of how to resume competition, how to address safety in a revised format, and the types of communication to send out. Several AD’s and athletics administration officials are involved from all institutions.
