About Eva Schicke

This tournament is here to honor a member of the Warrior family that will always live in our hearts. Eva Schicke spent four years with the Warrior Women’s Basketball team from 1998-2002, spending her summers as part of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) service. After graduating in 2002, Eva continued her service with the CDF and lost her life on September 12, 2004, fighting a fire in the Tuolumne River Canyon in the Stanislaus National Forest.

During her tenure with the Warriors, Eva was a four-year starter versatile enough to play every position on the floor. Her hard play and team attitude earned her respect and admiration from her coaches, teammates and fans.

As a senior, Eva started all 27 games for the Warriors finishing second in team scoring with 234 points that year. Eva’s number “55” was officially retired on Jan. 29, 2005.

In memory of Eva, California State University, Stanislaus has established a Memorial Scholarship for future Warrior Women’s Basketball players.
