The Cal State Stanislaus baseball team got a Christmas gift earlier in the week -- in the form of a national recognition. The Warriors debut in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper preseason poll at No. 24, released by the publication on Tuesday.
The Warriors finished 37-23 last season and made it to the NCAA West Regional tournament for the first time as a Division II program.
Defending champion Mount Olive is ranked No. 1 ahead of Tampa and Central Missouri. CCAA rival UC San Diego is ranked at No. 4 and Chico State is No. 7.
The Warriors open the 2009 season on Feb. 3, 2009 against Sonoma State in Turlock for a non-conference game.
