SACRAMENTO — The Cal State Stanislaus women's track & field team turned in a number of season-bests on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State's Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex's Hornet Stadium.
Erin Frier turned in the top performance on the day in terms of placing with a fourth place finish in the 5000-meter run as she clocked 18 minutes and 8.84 seconds. She ran in the top section among Division I athletes and defeated Chico State's distance runners. The event was won by Sac State's Tiffany Hall in 17:22.27. Frier was the top Division II finisher in the event.
In the 800-meter run, April Montgomery's first outdoor race of the season was a success with a team-best 2:16.86 -- good enough for sixth place on Saturday. Teammate Marissa Hager followed in 12th with her season-best 2:21.30.
In the 1500-meter run, Cherie McNair (4:49.50), and Clarssia Rivera (4:57.50) both had season-bests as well.
In the pole vault competition, Kirsten Loftin was the top Warrior today clearing 12 feet, 3 1/2 inches to finish fifth. Her teammate, Rosemary Feikert cleared 11-11 3/4 for fifth in her first competition after returning from Indoor Nationals.
Another notable result was in the javelin throw with Annie Ritsick tossing a team's season-best of 101 feet, two inches.
The Warriors were without thrower Jasimen Bailey who sat out the weekend due to a family emergency.
