WALNUT CREEK — Cal State Stanislaus junior pitcher Jessica Gaumnitz has been named the Worth CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 17-23.
Gaumnitz was dominating last weekend at Sonoma State as she helped the Warriors to a four-game series sweep at Sonoma State. The Warriors have now won 10 of their last 12 games and moves into third place in the CCAA with a 12-10 record, one game behind UC San Diego.
Gaumnitz was nearly untouchable in her two starts against the Seawolves with two complete game shutout victories with a save.
On Friday, she gave up just two meaningless singles after taking a no-hitter with two outs in the sixth inning. She struck out a season-best 11 batters without a walk. On Saturday, she followed it with another shout out win, this time allowing two hits in five innings with three K's and two walks to improve to 9-4 on the season. In Saturday's game two, she pitched the final two innings, gave up two hits, and recorded a save.
Gaumnitz has now picked up a win in six consecutive starts, including two against UCSD's Melissa Ward.
