TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team continues to shutout its opponents as the Warriors made it two in-a-row after beating Fresno Pacific, 3-0, Saturday night in front of an announced crowed of 782 at Warrior Stadium.

Two penalty kicks resulted in an early Warrior lead and the defense, as well as starting goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz, held off the Sunbirds. Cal State Stanislaus improved to 2-0 at its new home turf to start the 2009 season.

"Sweeping the weekend is extremely satisfying. It is important to set the tone at home and we have started to do that.," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said.

Lisa Garcia would connect with Taylor Waldon in the 82nd minute to give the Warriors the 3-0 victory. Thursday night, Stanislaus also shutout Hawaii Hilo, 3-0, with Garcia scoring twice. Garcia's goal was set-up nicely by Waldon from the midfield as her pass slipped between two defenders to find Garcia. Garcia then booted it in the upper corner for the score.

"That goal was an absolute world class finish on a great pass from Taylor. I love how aggressive Lisa is being going to goal," Bolton said.

Garcia would have had her second two-goal game, but her attempt with about 80 second left to play hit the cross bar.

Alena Smajlagic converted on a penalty kick try at 29:48 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead at the break. In the 66th minute, the Warriors got another PK chance on the north side and Maryanne Sayles successfully gave Stanislaus a 2-0 lead.

Three of the six Warrior goals scored this season have been penalty kick scores.

Sitarz made the start for the Warriors guarding the net Saturday night and picked up five saves for the win. She was helped by a strong Warrior defense led by Vanessa Cervantes and Holly Johnson.

"Vanessa and Holly were outstanding in the center of the defense. They are both very tough and aggressive defenders and they controlled things this weekend," Bolton added.

The Warriors are on the road next weekend with a pair of matches in Nampa, Idaho against Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene.
