TURLOCK — After a morning delay to wait for the fields to dry, the Warriors split on the first day of the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational on Friday at the Pedretti Sports Complex.

Erica McIntyre went 4-for-4 with four RBIs in game one as the Warriors beat Davis and Elkins of Elkins, W.V., 11-5. In the nightcap, Sonoma State scattered 12 hits, including four home runs, to beat Cal State Stanislaus, 11-3, in five innings.

Cal State Stanislaus scored 10 runs in the third inning of the first game against the Senators using seven hits and two errors. McIntyre had a RBI double in her first at bat of the frame and then belted a three-run triple to right-center to cap the explosive inning.

Seven different Warriors also each had a hit against Davis and Elkins.

Jennifer Arnold, who also drove in two runs with a single in the third, pitched seven innings and struck out six for her first win of the year.

The Warriors, now 1-2-1 on the season, dropped the nightcap to Sonoma State as the Seawolves went yard four times.

In a seven-run third inning, Sonoma State had two home runs and two doubles. Rochelle Vanyl's two-run home run chased Stanislaus starter Brittani Weatherford. Myers' home run followed a bases cleaning double by Skylynn Myers.

Myers then hit a solo homer in the fourth, two batters before a two-run shot by Simone Brandalise.

Sarah Locarnini went 2-for-3 with two runs to lead the Warriors against SSU. Arnold hit her second homer of the season -- a solo shot to lead off the second inning.

The Warriors are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. as the 12-team tournament continues.
