CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Both
Derrhea McLiechey and
Denali Foldager competed in the preliminary heats of their respective events on Thursday. However, both Warriors will end their season as they did not qualify for Saturday's finals.
At the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University, McLiechey ran a personal best 55.39 seconds in the 400-meter dash, but finished eighth in her heat. McLiechey had entered the week ranked 15th with the previous best time of 55.45 seconds.
Celethia Byrd of Angelo State posted the fastest qualifying time of 53.14. No CCAA runners qualified for finals in the event.
In the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Foldager was eighth in her heat of nine with a time of 11:09.41. She too will not be running in the finals on Saturday. Foldager made the trip with the 16th best time in the country with a personal best and CSUS record 10:46.22.
Adams State's Alicia Nelson topped the field with a time of 10:38.66 on Thursday. Humboldt State's Megan Rolland qualified 10th in 10:45.57.
