Brittni Showers recorded two personal bests on Friday as the finished eighth in the heptathlon at the CCAA Track & Field Championships on the campus of UC San Diego. Showers scored a season-best 4,151 points.
Showers ran a 2:30.32 in the 800-meter run and threw the javelin 106 feet, one inch -- both new personal bests. Her highest finish in an event was third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.40.
UC San Diego's Stephanie LeFever (5,161 points) and defending champion Linda Rainwater (4,938) finished first and second, respectively, in the heptathlon.
A number of other Warriors also competed in preliminaries on Friday and qualified for tomorrow's finals.
Denali Foldager qualified second in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:58.52. Her sister Rubye Foldager was fifth in 4:55.22.
Rubye Foldager also qualified in the 800-meter run in 2:19.66.
Derrhea McLiechey was fifth by running a 56.81 seconds in the 400-meter run. She also qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash with a 25.59 time.
