TURLOCK — The President's Breakfast, recognizing scholar-athletes at Stanislaus State, took place Wednesday as the University and it's Athletics Department invited students, faculty and administrators for the annual event.

Earning a certificate of excellence from Provost Dr. Kimberly Greer and Interim Athletics Director Kim Duyst were 54 student-athletes with 36 more receiving honorable mention. To earn the award, a student-athlete posted a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.25 or above in their career at Stan State. First-year students with 3.25 GPA or better received honorable mention.

Dr. Shawna Young, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, congratulated the honorees on behalf of University President Dr. Ellen Junn who could not attend. Young, a former Stanislaus cross country student-athlete, delivered a message of how statistics and research have shown career success rates of collegiate student-athletes are much higher than the general population. She said student-athletes' engagement in both athletic and academic fields elevated them as desired employees in the workplace.

The Women's Soccer team once again boosts the most student-athletes on the honored list with 14 with seven additional honorable mentions.
