Duy (Yee) Tran has been introduced as the newest member of the Stanislaus State coaching staff as he became the men's basketball assistant coach, under head coach Paul Trevor.
 
"It is an honor to be coaching with Coach Trevor. I am very grateful for this opportunity," Tran said. "Stanislaus State has a chance to become a powerhouse in the CCAA. I promise to bring energy and passion to the program every day."
 
A well accomplished coach at the junior college level, Tran spent a total of 15 years at Orange Coast College. With his assistance, OCC finished 22-8 overall and 11-1 in conference play last year. For the first time in 40 years, OCC won the Orange Empire Conference and made it to the Elite Eight for the State Championship.
 
Tran also coached at Metro State during the 2007-08 season when the team went 19-12.
 
With more than a decade of coaching experience, Tran began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Costa Mesa under head coach Bob Serven.
 
"We are very happy and excited to have Coach Yee joining us here at Stan State," Trevor said. "He has a lot of experience recruiting in Southern California and has a strong fundamental approach to the game. His experiences at Orange Coast and Metro State will be an asset to our program."
 
As a student-athlete, Tran took over the starting point guard duties midway through the 2001-02 season at Orange Coast College. He averaged nearly two assists per game in conference play. As a scorer, he notched a career-high 13 points against Riverside City College and after the season, Tran won the "Team Hustle Award" for the Pirates.
 
As a high school standout, Tran won the Jason Ferguson Memorial Scholarship, while attending Costa Mesa High School. In his prep career, Tran was an all-league honorable mention selection as well as the 1999 senior captain for the Mustangs.
 
Tran graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Child Development. His main responsibilities on the Warrior's coaching staff will include recruiting, player development, scouting, community engagement and fundraising.
