Rocco Gurrola delivered a strong performance on the mound Saturday afternoon at Nettleton Stadium, earning his first win of the season in Stan State’s 7-1 victory over Chico State. The right-hander tossed 5.0 innings, allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out three and walking two. Gurrola was efficient across his 74 pitches, inducing six flyouts and five groundouts and working out of multiple jams to prevent the Wildcats from gaining momentum. After Chico State tied the game in the fourth inning on an error, Gurrola responded with a scoreless fifth, setting the tone for the Warriors’ five-run surge in the seventh.
