No. 11 Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer is off to its best start in program history after eight matches after picking up two more victories over the weekend to improve to 7-0-1 (5-0-1 CCAA). Everyone knows about the Warriors' potent offense led by three-time All-American Karenee Demery, but little has been spotlighted on the defensive efforts of the Warriors.

This last weekend, the defense recorded another shutout -- its fourth this season -- and held both opponents to just two or fewer shots on goal per game extending that streak to three consecutive matches. This season, they have held teams to two or fewer shots on goal six times, including zero twice.

Through eight matches, the Warriors -- with the backline of Karli Nestler, Lauren Thornton, Emily Relles and Maryssa McDuffy -- posted a CCAA-leading 0.59 GAA and allowed just five goals while goalkeeper Chelsea Lewandowski has faced a CCAA-low 21 shots on goal.
