Gary improved his provisional mark in both the discus and hammer at the Kim Duyst Invitational. Randolph took second in the discus, missing a school record by less than an inch with a toss of 167 feet, four inches. In the hammer, Randolph finished won with a hurl of 198-4. He would also take second the shot put, throwing 53-6 ½.
