LOS ANGELES --- For the first time in eight matches, the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team won a game, but the Warriors still dropped to No. 23 Cal State L.A. in four, 30-28, 30-13, 28-30, 30-23.
Debbie Vander Schaaf led the Warriors with eight kills and
Caitlin Steffeck, who set a new school record in career blocks Friday, had five total blocks to lead Stanislaus (5-19, 1-12 CCAA).
The 30-28 game three win was the Warriors' first in eight matches. Stanislaus had gone down 3-0 in the last seven contests since defeating Sonoma State 3-1 on Sept. 28.
Cal State L.A. won its third straight after a three-match losing skid to improve to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles were led by Brianca Gorospe with 16 kills. Airess Padda and Lindsay Laakso each had 13. Gorospe also had 16 digs.
Karly Van Foeken and
Nicole Musso each chipped in six kills while
Megan Loghry and Liz Cameron each added five.
Megan Britton had 13 digs.
