No. 2 CSUSB downs Warriors in three

SAN BERNARDINO --- Cal State San Bernardino completed the first round of California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball play Saturday night with a 3-0 victory over Cal State Stanislaus before 349 fans in Coussoulis Arena.

The Coyotes, ranked No.2 in NCAA Division II,  are now 17-1 on the season and 9-0 in the CCAA while the Warriors dropped to 5-15 overall and 1-8 in the conference.

CSUSB used 12 of its 14 players in the match, prevailing 30-15, 30-22 and 30-22 while hitting .324 as a team with 52 kills in 111 attacks with 16 hitting errors. The Warriors were limited to .105 hitting on 30 kills in 97 attacks with 20 errors.

Junior right side hitter Jessica Granados again led the Coyotes with 16 kills on 33 attacks with just two errors for .424 hitting, two service aces, six digs and two blocks.
Senior middle blocker Sharea Drawn had eight kills in 10 attacks (.800) with a solo block.

Setter Sara Hoffman, the national leader in assists -- averaging 14.1 per game -- had 33 while playing a portion of the three games. Reserve setter Alyssa Auck contributed 11.

Libero Meghan Haas and senior outside hitter Lindsay Olhausen contributed 25 digs between them.

Debbi Vander Schaaf was the leading scorer for the Warriors with nine kills. Caitlin Steffeck contributed four blocks and four kills. Colleen Sullivan and Nicki Brown combined for 25 assists. Megan Britton had a team-high 10 digs.

CSUSB is now 93-6 at home in conference play since the start of the 1998 season, a period that has seen them win four CCAA titles and two Pacific Region titles.
