9/28/2007 6:02:15 PM

TURLOCK —  The Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team fell to Cal State L.A. 1-0 in overtime, Friday at Warrior Soccer Field.  With the loss, the Warriors fall to 6-6-1, 5-2-1 CCAA, while the Golden Eagles improve to 6-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the CCAA.

The lone goal came in the first overtime period as Dana Menard took a crossing pass from Kastidi Robles in front of the goal and was able to knock it in past Warrior goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz

The first two regulation periods contained opportunities for both teams to get on the board, however neither team was able to push one through.  “It was a pretty competitive game, L.A. was just more aggressive and they finished their opportunity,” noted head coach Gabe Bolton.

Cal State L.A. out shot the Warriors nineteen to eight in the game, and collected nine shots on goal compared to four shots on goal for the Warriors.  Jessica Sitarz collected eight saves for Cal State Stanislaus in the loss.

“We need to bounce back against Mesa State,” said Bolton.  The Warriors will host Mesa State in a non-conference match on Sunday with kickoff at 1:00 p.m.  It will be poster day at Warrior Soccer Field, as the first 150 fans will receive posters containing team and individual pictures of the women's soccer team.
