Northwest Nazarene downs CSUS volleyball again

HONOLULU -- Northwest Nazarene seems to have the Warriors, numbers as the Crusaders defeating Cal State Stanislaus for the second stright time in less than a week.

NNU rolled out to early leads in the first two games en route to a 30-19, 30-12, 30-27 win over CSUS in a match as part of the Hawaiian Invitational.

The Warriors dropped to 1-4 and NNU remains undefeated after five matches.

"After a shakey start I thought we played better in game three against a very tough team." Head coach Chris Difani said.

CSUS made a number of unforced errors that led to quick defeats in games one and two. Hitting, serving and receiving errors accounted for 27 of NNU points in the first two sets.

CSUS finished with 41 total errors while NNU put-away 47 kills.

The Warriors rebounded nicely in the third and took an early lead before NNU rallied to win the match in straight sets.

Debbie Vander Schaaf led with nine kills and Megan Loghry added seven.

NNU was led by Lindsay Forseth with 14 kills.

CSU Stanislaus plays again on Friday against Central Washington in Laie, Hawaii, on the campus of BYU Hawaii.
