Warriors regroup to beat Central Washington in four

LAIE, HAWAII --- In a complete turn around Thursday's match, the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team regrouped as a team as they defeated Central Washington, 30-24, 30-24, 28-30, 31-29.

The match was a part of the Hawaiian Classic at BYU Hawaii.

Debbie Vander Schaaf led the way with 18 kills and Nicole Musso had 15 as the Warriors improved to 2-4. Megan Loghry had 14 and Jen Gee added 12 kills. Setter Nicki Brown dished off 54 assists.

Defensively for the Warriors, Megan Britton led the charge with 20 digs while the team recorded 11 total blocks.

" We finally played as a team tonight, they had fun and things clicked," head coach Chris Difani said. " We obviously have to continue to improve but I am pleased with the win."

CSUS rolled off to two strong wins in the first two games behind strong play of Musso who was 9 for 11 at one point on the attack.

Unlike Thursday, the Warriors did not committee too many error en route to the 2-0 lead.

Central Washington, which defeated Sonoma State on the day, battled back in game 3 and had a lead late in game four before CSUS pull out the win.

As a team CSUS hit .276 on the attack.

Central Washington was led by Rachael Schurman with 19.

CSUS will have a long day on Saturday traveling back across the island to take on BYUH at 2:30 before a 7:30 match at Hawaii Pacific in Honolulu.
