Ohland strong in Warriors' defeat

CHICO — Angela Ohland had another strong outing to lead the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team, but the Warriors lost to host Chico State in straight sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

With their ninth defeat in the last 10 matches, the Warriors dropped to 4-13 overall and 1-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Chico State improved to 11-6 and 4-3 in CCAA.

Ohland led Stanislaus with nine kills on an efficient night with just one hitting error on 14 attempts. Her attacking percentage was .571. The freshman middle hitter from Yuba City was coming off a career night on Saturday. Ohland had 12 kills and six total blocks to help the Warriors beat Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson. Ohland had two total blocks against Chico.

Karly Penton — another middle hitter — and outside hitter Jen Gee each added five kills to Ohland's totals. Colleen Sullivan had 16 assists and a team-best six digs.

Chico State was led by Lindsay Macias with 11 kills with Makenzie Snyder chipping in seven. Setter Erica Brick had 25 assists and eight digs.
