LOS ANGELES --- Rachel Mathews scored in the 67th minute to even up the score as the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team picked up a 1-1 tie at Cal State L.A. on Sunday.

Cal State Stanislaus is now 5-3-4 overall and 1-3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State L.A. is 3-6-2, 2-6.

Cal State L.A. took an early 1-0 lead 26 minutes into the match on a Khadijah Greenwood score.

Adrienne Sorenson was credited with an assist on Mathews's goal. It was Mathews' second goal and Sorenson's team-leading fifth assist of the season.

"The goal was a tremendous combination play between Adrienne and Rachel," CSUS head coach Gabe Bolton said. "Playing together and to our strengths as a team is something we have been working on. It was great to see it result in such a beautiful goal."

The Warriors offense were in stride early as they challenged Golden Eagles goalkeeper Heather Emswiler. They peppered her with nine shots with five on frame, but Emswiler picked up each scoring attempt. Emswiler finished with eight saves.

Stanislaus goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz had five saves, some of them "outstanding" saves according to Bolton: "Jess really came up big in overtime. She made some outstanding saves."

"As a team we feel like we should have won the game but anytime you get points on the road it is an accomplishment. LA is a very good team," Bolton added.
