ARCATA -- Jose Velasquez scored a goal and assisted on another as the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team finished the 2008 season on a high note with a 2-0 win at Humboldt State's Redwood Bowl.
The Warriors complete the season with 4-12-1 overall and 3-11 CCAA records and with the road win ends a three-match losing skid. Humboldt State finished the year 8-8-4, 3-8-3.
Cal State Stanislaus got on the board first just before the end of the first half when
Bladimir Murillo connected with Velasquez for the first score. The goal came at 41:23 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead going into intermission.
Velasquez would net the second goal for the team in the 68th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Artemio Arteaga assisted on the score.
With the 2-0 lead, the Warriors held on for the win despite being out-shot 14-9.
Javier Rosales had three saves for Stanislaus.
