WALNUT CREEK — Cal State Stanislaus midfielder Adrienne Sorenson has been named the Brine California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 25-31.

Sorenson, a senior from Sacramento, helped the Warriors remain unbeaten in season openers in their history as totaled five points in Cal State Stanislaus' convincing season-opening victory over Northwest Nazarene on Thursday.

Against the Crusaders, Sorenson scored the Warriors' first goal of the season when she scored in the 19th minute. The senior midfielder assisted on a goal early in the second half and accounted for her team's final goal, scoring the 86th minute of a 9-2 victory.

Sorenson became the first Warrior to earn the Player of the Week award since Marti Teunissen won it for week of Oct. 10-16, 2005.

Cal State Stanislaus is back in action on Friday when it hosts Hawaii-Hilo in Turlock.
