TURLOCK -- The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos jumped on the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors early en route to a 4-2 victory, Sunday at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex.  With the loss the Warriors drop to 4-2-2 (0-2-1 CCCAA), while the Broncos improve to 5-1-2 (2-1-1 CCAA).

The first half of action was dominated by the Broncos.  Britany Garrett scored the first goal in the 17th minute of action.  Just nine minutes later, Valerie Strawn made the score 2-0 in favor of the Broncos.

The Warriors would get on the board at the 35 minute mark when Rachel Mathews knocked a lob shot over the Bronco goalkeeper to record her first goal of the season.  However, the Broncos bounced right back four minutes later as Britany Garret scored her second goal of the half to make the score 3-1 at the half.

In the second half the Warriors put together a much more balanced attack, as they closed the gap to 3-2 on Vanessa Cervantes first goal of the season.  Off a corner kick by Lisa Garcia, Cervantes headed the ball into the left side of the goal with just a minute and a half to play.  With 20 seconds left in the match, Britany Garrett scored her 3rd goal of the day on a penalty kick making the final score 4-2.

"We just weren't prepared today," said Warrior head coach Gabe Bolton, "after they scored the first goal we shutdown mentally and physically and dug ourselves a hole, it was dissappointing to see that at home".

"We did a better job of competing in the second half but it is tough to come back in this conference, hopefully we understand that we need to do a better job of playing the full 90 minutes," added Bolton.

The Warriors will be on the road next weekend, Friday at Cal State Monterey Bay and Saturday at San Francisco State.
