POMONA — Lisa Garcia scored her ninth goal of the year, but the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team came up a goal short as the Warriors lost to Cal Poly Pomona, 3-2, Friday night.

Alisa Barlow scored the other goal, early in the second minute, for the Warriors, but CSUS dropped to 7-7-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors also dropped to 1-6 on the road this season while they are 5-1-1 at Warrior Stadium.

Cal Poly Pomona snapped a seven-match losing streak to improve to 7-8, 3-8.

"We came out and scores two of the best goals we have scored all year. Unfortunately we could not maintain the momentum," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said. " After taking the lead so early we lost our concentration. I think we thought the game would be easy. That's a rookie mistake and a lesson we learned the hardway tonight.

Barlow gave the Warriors the lead early from a end-line cross by Garcia. Garcia's goal was assisted by Jade Adamson in the 19th minute.

"Lisa did a great job getting to the end line. That's something we emphasized this week. Boogie made a great run and finished a nice goal," Bolton said.

Garcia's goal was her ninth of the season, tying her for the CCAA lead with Cal State L.A.'s Ann Marie Tangorra, who had nine scores entering the weekend.

"Jade slipped the ball to Lisa who made an incredibly timed run. It was a clinical finish," Bolton added.
