Cal Poly Pomona spikes Stanislaus in four

POMONA — The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team has been close to pulling out a win lately, but Saturday night, the Warriors dropped their fifth straight when they fall to Cal Poly Pomona in four sets.

The Broncos got 18 kills from Elizabeth Diaz and 13 from Kristin McNeese as they improved to 9-14 overall and 6-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Stanislaus is now 8-15, 2-13 in the CCAA,

Lianne Vicchio led the Warriors with 12 kills, a night after recording 17 kills against No. 3 Cal State San Bernardino. The sophomore outside hitter also had 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.

Freshman Andrea Fett had a career night with 10 kills on 23 attempts with just two errors for a .348 hitting percentage. She also had a solo block to go with five assisted blocks, plus three service aces.

Setter Jessica Lehner had 34 assists and nine digs, Janay Bankston added seven kills and Amanda Pielstick recorded 11 digs to pace the Warriors.

As a team, Cal Poly Pomona had 25 assisted blocks for 12.5 team blocks with Lindsey Poulos led with seven.

The setback was the Warriors fifth straight after winning two of three in early October. Last weekend at home, they extended their opponents to five sets before losing.
