TURLOCK - Lisa Garcia scored two goals and the Warriors dominated offensively as the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team blanked Hawaii Hilo, 3-0, in the first regular season contest at Warrior Stadium Thursday afternoon.

The Warriors control the game from the start in the contest dubbed the inaugural match, out-shooting the Vulcans 19-3. Stanislaus had a 7-0 shot advantage in the second half.

"It is always nice to win the first game and get off to a good start," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said. "We defended well and really limited the opportunities Hawaii Hilo had in the back. Our back four and goalkeeping was very solid."

Garcia opened the scoring for the Warriors in the 19th minute mark when she stolen the ball from a Vulcan player in the attack zone, just outside of the box, and knocked it in for her first score of the season.

"Lisa took advantage of the opportunities she creates through hard work. It was nice to see her score two goals," Bolton said.

Shelby Cargile, a freshman from Newcastle, scored her first collegiate goal in the 33rd minute to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Marissa Dunaway raced down the far side on a breakaway and crossed the ball to find Cargile for the finish.

Stanislaus (1-0) then made it 3-0 when Garcia, a junior from Manteca, converted a penalty kick at 51:44.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Millie Brown (Elk Grove) picked up her first career win guarding the net with one save as the Warriors midfield and defense kept the Vulcans from mounting much of an attack.

"Kim (DiNardo) had a great game today in the center midfield both offensively and defensively. She really controlled the tempo," Bolton added.

Next match for Cal State Stanislaus is Saturday when the Warrior men and women host Fresno Pacific in a doubleheader. The women's game kicks off at 7 p.m., following the men's match at 4:30 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
