CHICO — The Chico State men's soccer team scored two second half goals as the Wildcats defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon.

The match was the Warriors third on the road in six days as they dropped to 4-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Chico State, ranked No. 5 in the latest NSCAA regional poll, improved to 5-1-1 and remains undefeated in conference play at 2-0-1.

"I thought in the first half our guys battled and came out with a lot of intensity," Stanislaus head coach Dana Taylor said. "But in the second half, we were very poor with the pressure we brought. We didn't match the intensity and were out-worked."

Josh Johnson was part of both scores for Chico State as he scored at 65:43 to give the Cats a 1-0 lead. Evan Armstrong and Tyson Crim both assisted on the play. Johnson then worked with teammate Chris Akwaja on a give-and-go play to give Chico a 2-0 lead at 80:28.

Goalkeepers Javier Rosales and Steven Waite again split time guarding the net with Rosales getting the start and picking up one save in the scoreless first half. Waite allowed the two scores and had a save in the second half.

The Warriors won't have much time to rest as they will host UC San Diego on Friday as part of the Student Recreation Complex Grand Opening ceremony at California State University, Stanislaus. Kickoff against the Tritons is at 4:30 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
