Warriors win fourth straight, 3-0 for the week

TURLOCK — Lianne Vicchio had another double-double night as the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team won its fourth straight with a 3-0 win over Bethany University Friday night.

With the win, Stanislaus completes the preseason portion of the 2009 schedule with a 5-2 record and has won four straight for the first time since 2006. The 5-2 start is also the program's best since the 2002 season when that squad set a school record with 19 wins.

Friday night, it was once again outside hitter Vicchio leading the charge. This time with 13 kills on 26 attempts with two errors for a .423 percentage. She also had 15 digs for her fifth double-double match this season. In three matches this week, the sophomore from Orangevale amassed 39 kills and 56 digs to lead CSUS to a perfect mark.

Running the offense tonight was freshman setter Jessica Lehner who picked up 35 assists. Melissa Bishop added nine kills and Andrea Fett with seven kills. Libero Amanda Pielstick had 12 digs.

The Warriors were also much stronger in the service game with 11 aces, led by Lauren Charles with five against no errors. Charles also had nine digs.

Becky Heiner and Kim Feigles each had six kills to lead the Bruins (0-5).

Stanislaus opens California Collegiate Athletic Association play next weekend with road matches at Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State.
