SAN BERNARDINO – The Warrior volleyball ended their five game winning streak after falling to #4 Cal State San Bernardino (25-14, 25-17, 17-25, 25-14) Saturday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match.
Before tonight the #4 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes were flawless in conference play, not giving up a single set to a CCAA team. The Warriors ended this streak after they took set three from the Coyotes.
"We played well against a #4 nationally ranked team and we battled hard throughout the game," says Coach Christina Lore.
Other than attacking percentage, the Warriors played strong against the nationally ranked Coyotes. Cal State Stanislaus recorded 9 team blocks to CSUSB 6 team blocks. Gow again led with 4 block assists, 1 solo , Fett and and Melissa Bishop each had 4 block assists.
Serving was another strong point for the Warriors as they out-served CSUSB 8-5 in service aces. Jessica Lehner and Vicchio each led the team with 3 service aces.
"I am proud of how we played," Lore added.
Leaders for CSUSB were Jane Chafeh with 18 kills and 16 digs. Following was Samantha Middleborn with 11 kills. Camille Smith had 36 assists on the night.
The Warriors will make their next appearance at home against Cal State Monterey Bay, Friday night and San Francisco State on Saturday night. Both games will have 7 p.m. starts.
