Andrea Fett and
Lianne Vicchio led the Warriors for the second straight night, but the Sonoma State Seawolves held off a strong performance by Cal State Stanislaus Saturday night.
In the end, the Seawolves won in straight sets, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22, to improve to 12-7 overall and 9-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors are now 11-10 overall and 8-8 in the CCAA.
Sonoma State is ranked fourth in the first NCAA West Region rankings release earlier in the week.
Fett led the Warriors with 12 kills and Vicchio had 11 kills, however, no other Warriors had five kills or more.
Eva Chafeh had 12 digs and
Jessica Lehner recorded 29 assists for Cal State Stanislaus.
Sonoma State rolled off to a 10-2 lead early in the first set before taking the game 25-18. in set two, the match was much closer with the team battling back and forth until a 14-14 tie. Keale Peterson and the Seawolves maintained control to win the set 25-22.
In set three, SSU again took off to an early lead and led as late as 23-19. But Stanislaus challenged the Seawolves and held off four set points before SSU won 25-22.
Peterson led the Seawolves attack with 16 kills with a .448 attacking percentage. She only committed three errors on 29 attempts. Allyson Sather chipped in 11 kills.
