Warriors finish season with loss to Gators

San Francisco – The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team finishes their 2010 season with a record of 13-14 overall and 10-12 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association after a loss to San Francisco State (14-25, 28-25, 17-25, 18-25) Friday night.

The last time the Warrior volleyball team finished with 13 or more overall wins was in 2002.  This is the first time that head coach Christina Lore has finished with more than 12 overall wins.  Lore and the Warriors finished with a 12-16 overall record in 2006.

Lianne Vicchio led CSUS once again and recorded her fifteenth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs on the night.  Eva Chafeh had 10 kills.

Dominating defensively at the net, Stanislaus out-blocked the Gators 10-5.  Kaycee Gow led the team with five block assists and 2 solo blocks.  Four Warriors – Jennifer Marsh, Nicki Brown, Melissa Bishop, and Vicchio – each recorded 2 block assists.

Serving strongly was Bishop, Vicchio, and Megan Britton with 2 service aces a piece.  Andrea Fett also dished in a service ace.

Setter Iris Tolenada led San Francisco State with 41 assists.  Halimah Oswald led the match with 13 kills.  Libero Sarah Kurfess had 18 digs.

Cal State Stanislaus finishes their season in eighth place, but will not yet be final until after Saturday, the final day of conference play.
