TURLOCK– The Cal State Stanislaus Warrior volleyball team swept Cal Poly Pomona (26-24, 25-21, 26-24) Saturday night.
This is the first time since 2002 that the Warriors have recorded a win on their senior night. Their record has improved to 9-11 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and are now 12-13 overall.
Stanislaus improved their serving Saturday as they collected a total of 11 service aces as a team. Bishop led with 4 aces, followed by Megan Britton with 3 aces and Chafeh with 2 aces. Jessica Lehner and Vicchio each had one service ace.
The Warriors' blocking shined once again as they out-blocked the Broncos 9 to 6. Kaycee Gow dominated at the net with 2 block solos and 3 block assists. Lehner had 4 block assists, while Bishop and Chafeh recorded 2 blocks as well.
Defensively in the back row, Chafeh led with 15 digs. Libero Megan Britton had 13 digs and Lehner had 12 digs.
Lehner also had 42 assists on the night.
Kristin McNeese led Cal Poly Pomona with 15 kills. Katie Colin led with 41 assists and Kelly Bonja had 13 digs for the Broncos.
The Warriors will wrap up their 2010 season with road games against Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday night and San Francisco State on Friday night.
