CARSON — Despite a strong first half performance by the Warriors, the 15th ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros rallied and held off Cal State Stanislaus, 64-53, at the Torodome Thursday afternoon.

Four Toros accounted for 54 of the teams' 64 points as Cal State Dominguez Hills improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Toros has now won seven straight against CSUS since 2007.

For Cal State Stanislaus, Evan Scott had 12 points -- 10 of them came in the first half -- and 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double. Brett Sayad and Reggie Jones each chipped 10 points but the Warriors fell to 3-6 and 1-4 in the CCAA.

Again, behind Scott's hot start, the Warriors took control of the game early. Scott had the eight of the team's first 13 points. Prince Abidoye's three-pointer at 11:34 gave the Warriors a 16-7 early lead. At 18-9, however, CSUDH went on a 9-0 run to even the score and the tight battle was on.

Stanislaus held a slim 31-28 halftime lead and used a 6-1 run to start the second half to lead 37-29. But a 10-0 Dominguez Hills spurt quickly erased that Warrior lead, their last of the night. The Toros would built their lead up to 15 points, 58-43 at 6:33 left to play, and held on for the win.

Abidoye's second three-pointer at 4:03 left to play pulled the Warriors within eight, but that was as close as Stanislaus would get.

Robert Willhite led CSUDH with 15 points and Cornell Jenkins had 14. Marcquintice Davis added 13 while Zareh Zargaryan chipped in 12. These four accounted for 84 percent of the Toro's scoring as the rest of the team tried just eight shots and made three. Willhite and Jenkins each nailed four three-pointers.

Cal State L.A. is the next stop for the Warriors as they square off Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Eagles' Nest.
