TURLOCK– The Cal State Stanislaus Warriors snagged their first conference win at home after defeating Humboldt State in four sets (23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-14) Saturday night.
The Warriors improve their record to 2-2 in the CCAA and 5-4 overall, while Humboldt State falls to 0-4 in the CCAA and 0-8 overall.
Lianne Vicchio led the Warriors once again with 17 kills. Stanislaus started off slow allowing the Lumberjacks to take set one. The next three sets belonged to the Warriors entirely and Humboldt was unable to snag the lead.
Vicchio also recorded 11 digs and 2 blocks on the night. Andrea Fett and Melissa Bishop also had two blocks each to go along with their 7 kills a piece. Kaycee Gow once again shined at the net with 6 kills and 5 blocks.
The Warriors out-served the Jacks with a total of 12 service aces. Setter Jessica Lehner led the team with 7 aces.
Oceana Matsubu and Toni Kroeker led Humbodt State with 8 kills each. Kroeker also had five blocks. Allison Drobish also was strong on offense for the Jacks with 25 assists.
Cal State Stanislaus will play again next Friday and Saturday, when they host Cal State East Bay and UC San Diego, both with 7 p.m. starts.
