TURLOCK -- Tyler Reinhert split two defenders to knock in the game-winner in the first overtime period as visiting Cal Poly Pomona defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 2-1, Sunday at Warrior Stadium.

Cal State Stanislaus suffered its first defeat of the season and falls to 3-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal Poly Pomona is now 4-2-0, 2-2-0 in conference play.

Andres Zamora scored the Warrior goal in the first half, at 33:16, for a 1-0 lead -- a score that held up until early in the second half with CPP sending in the equalizer in the 49th minute.

"We really didn't come to play the first 15 minutes of the game," CSUS head coach Dana Taylor said. "I thought a lot of our guys came off the bench today and really elevated our team."

Zamora came off the bench in the 27th minute and scored six minutes later. From 20 yards out, Zamora took a deflection and kicked it in for the lead. Jose Velasquez was credited with the assist.

The score remained 1-0 until the 49th minute when Pomona responded on Luis Gonzales' fifth score of hte year with an assist by Tyler Reinhart.

Reinhart scored Cal Poly Pomona's sudden victory goal at 93:24 to end the contest.

Despite out-shooting its opponents 33-14 on Sunday, the Warriors weren't able to cash in on their chances. Pomona goalkeepers turned away 13 Stanislaus shots on goal. CSUS outshot Pomona 14-3 in just the second half, but CPP's James Iles had seven second-half saves.

"We need to finish our chances. We have had 76 shots in the last three games and only three goals to show for," Taylor added. "We are too generous in the counter attack and must learn to take care of a lead."

The homestand continues for Cal State Stanislaus as the Warriors host Sonoma State and Humboldt State next weekend.
