SAN FRANCISCO -- For the second time this weekend the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team was shutout on the road. This time it was at San Francisco State with a score of 1-0.
Despite out-playing and out-shooting the San Francisco State Gators, the Warriors fell to 8-5-1 overall and 6-5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. San Francisco State improved to 5-7-2, 4-7-1 CCAA.
The Gators scored the match's only goal just before the end of the first half. Robert Gilbert collected a rebound from a Sasha Chalak shot attempt at 44:37 to give SFSU the 1-0 lead at the break.
That score held up the rest of the way for the final count.
Cal State Stanislaus blasted the Gators 8-3 in shot in the first half and finished with a 14-7 advantage.
SF State goalkeeper Thomas Comer earned three saves after seeing four CSUS shots on goal. One of the shots was saved by the team.
The Warriors were shutout, 3-0, on Friday at Cal Poly Pomona.
Cal State Stanislaus, 2-4-1 on the road in 2011, falls to third in the CCAA North and will host its final two regular season home matches next weekend.
