Stanislaus men fall to CSU Monterey Bay

SEASIDE — The Otter Sports Complex is beginning to be a tough place for the Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team. For the second straight trip to Seaside, the Warriors did not come up with a positive result as Cal State Monterey Bay defeated CSUS, 2-0.

Cal State Stanislaus saw its two-match winning streak on the road came to a end on Sunday in the setback. The Warriors are now 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Cal State Monterey Bay improves to 3-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the CCAA, moving one point ahead of the Warriors.

Max Brixley figured in on both Otter goals as he scored one in the 62nd minute and assisted on another at 88:40 to help CSUMB. The second goal was scored by Julian Salas.

While the Stanislaus attack was strong, out-shooting the Otters, 12-11, with six on-goal. The Warriors couldn't get one into the net. CSUMB goalkeeper Sam Campanelli picked up six saves in the shutout win.

In net, Bill Hambelton saw 11 shots and had five saves.

The previous time Stanislaus visited Seaside, on Sept. 12, 2010, the Warriors came away with a 1-1 tie. They are now 4-3-2 against the Otters on the coast.
