TURLOCK — For the second time in a week, the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors easily took down William Jessup in straight sets, this time with the scores of 25-9, 25-11, 25-17.
In the team's home opener, Stanislaus was led by senior
Lianne Vicchio with 13 kills. She also had seven digs and three aces as the Warriors improved to 3-0 leading up to the CCAA opener this weekend.
CSUS head coach
Christina Lore was able to go deeper into her bench and played a total of 12 players after the Warriors took the first two sets with ease.
The Warriors had little trouble getting out of the gate in the first set, quickly running up to a 15-5 lead after six straight Vicchio serves that included three aces.
Jacqueline Moore-DesLauriers capped the rally to end the set at 25-9.
After taking the second 25-11, the Warriors employed some of the subs including a change at setter with
Sarah Blume to spill
Jessica Lehner. Blume earned 12 assists in the third set as Stanislaus put away 15 of the night's 39 kills during that span. Lehner had 18 assists.
Eva Chafeh and
Melissa Bishop each chipped in six kills. Bishop also put up three total blocks with two solo. Libero
Madison Moss had 11 digs and
Kayla Giles also had three aces with seven digs to contribute to the victory.
William Jessup (0-11) was led by Charlotte McCarra and Sara Hickenbottom each with five kills.
The Warriors will hit the road on Thursday up to Arcata as they open the CCAA season at Humboldt State Friday night at 7 p.m.
