Toros offense strong against Stanislaus volleyball

Box Score TURLOCK — The visiting Toros from Cal State Dominguez Hills brought their strong offense as they defeated Cal State Stanislaus in four sets, 25-12, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16.

The Toros, an upstart program in the already strong California Collegiate Athletic Association, complete their road trip weekend sweep with wins at Chico State and Stanislaus. Cal State Dominguez Hills is now 9-9 overall and 7-4 in conference play.

For the Warriors, despite some flashes of greatness at different parts of the match, fell to 6-13 overall and 3-8 in conference play at the halfway point.

Twin killers Andrea Fett and Jennifer Marsh together put away 30 kills to lead the Warriors offense. Fett notched 16 kills for her 17th double-digit kill match this season. Marsh chipped in 14 on a stellar hitting night, going 14-for-26 with just two errors for a .462 attack percentage. Janay Bankston added eight kills to the total while Jaclyn Pinasco helped with 10 digs.

Libero Ashley Pittman matched her career-best with 24 digs on back-to-back nights. She also had 24 digs Friday against Cal State L.A.

However, the Toros hit .310 for the night, and were led by Elizabeth Krieger with 17 kills and 13 from Whitney Lee. Krieger had just one hitting error on the night with 37 swings (.432). Lee, too, had just one error on 19 attempts (.632). Setter Dana Brown had 41 assists and 16 digs.
