TURLOCK — Cal State Stanislaus accomplished a feat for the first time since 2006 with Sunday's 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona at Warrior Stadium.

Clint Long kick-saved a Pomona penalty kick try at 70:11 to preserve the lead and the victory as the Warriors win their fourth straight match to improve to 8-2-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The four-match winning streak is the program's firs since 2006. It is also just the third time since 1998 that the Warriors have won that many in-a-row.

Jesse Horta got Stanislaus on the board first in the 21st minute. Kyle Cadigan sent in a pass from the near-side into the box with the ball defelecting off Daniel Kuczynski to find Horta for the finish.

In the second half, the Broncos (3-8-2, 1-8-2 CCAA) were awarded a penalty kick chance at 60:24. Abraham Gomez converted the attempt to tied the match at 1-1.

Less than nine minutes later, at 68:45, Josue Barajas put the Warriors back up on top. A Schad TenBroeck long throw in into the box deflected off a defender out to 22 yards out, where Barajas blasted it home for the 2-1 lead.

At 70:11, Cal Poly Pomona was given another PK chance. This time, Juso Ahmetspahic's try to his right was knocked away by a sliding Stanislaus goalkeeper as Long cleared it away.

The Warriors defense held strong in the final nine minutes having to play a man down when a red card was issued to Juan Guzman.

The 2-1 score was just the first goal allowed by the Warriors in four-plus matches. Take away the penalty kick score, the Stanislaus defense and Long has not allowed a score in 398 minutes of play.
